SAMMENLIGNER HUN SEG MED ANDRE?

IS  THIS THE FASTEST WAY TO HAPPINESS?

TERJE NORDKVELLE: Norwegian coach and

creator of QuitCompare.com

Do you compare yourself to others?

I do. Here in Norway, it seems like every middle-aged guy drives a Tesla, is fit, and lives in a big house with his family.

I have spent a lot of time comparing myself to these guys. You can imagine how that made me feel...

Until one day in July 2020: My coach is talking about comparisons, then it suddenly strikes me. Yes, I have heard of this before, but I had not understood the power of quit comparing.

What happened?
I become aware of this bad habit and finally understood the depressing influence it has on me. It felt so good to only focus on my own path.  I have qualities no one else has. (So do you.)

Have I stopped comparing?
No, I still do it. Every day. And that's fine. Now I catch myself doing it, I observe my action, and that means it does not have the power over me.

All roads lead to Rome, it is said. I think that's true also when it comes to personal growth. There are a lot of strategies you can use to help yourself to a better life.

What if we could fly to our destination?
In my experience, quit comparing is one of the most effective and easiest self-help techniques you can use. It is a great starting point, a concrete activity you can start now.

So, catch yourself comparing, focus on yourself, and your path in life.

PS:

It is not you, but your critical inner voice that is doing the comparing. The voice consists of negative thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes about yourself.

And its lying to you. That's why it's so important to quit comparing yourself to others.

Let's fly to Rome, with the autopilot off. We are in charge.
